Looking for something fun to do on a night out? If you’re from the area or visiting, West Michigan is home to several amazing comedy venues that make for a great time.
Many people don’t know that in Grand Rapids especially, you can see comedy on almost any day of the week. While stand-up is arguably the most popular, you can also find improv, theater, sketch comedy, and music for very affordable prices (and often free!).
Check out this list of a few of the best places to see comedy in West Michigan:
The B.O.B.
The B.O.B. is a comedy club featuring stand-up comedians, nationally acclaimed performers, and comedic theater. The venue has several theaters to see shows that are on nearly every night of the week.
Every year the B.O.B. also partners with Gilda’s LaughFest, the nation’s first-ever community-wide festival of laughter. Gilda’s LaughFest will take place March 9-18, and will be hosting many of its shows throughout the week.
The B.O.B. is located at 20 Monroe Ave NW in Grand Rapids.
Dog Story Theater
The Dog Story Theater is a non-profit performance space that puts on many of the area’s best productions throughout the year. It’s also a very affordable place to see a show, and who doesn’t love that. The Dog Story Theater will also be hosting several of the Gilda’s LaughFest events this year, so stay tuned.
The Dog Story Theater is located at 7 Jefferson Ave SE in Grand Rapids.
Holiday Bar
Every Monday, the Holiday Bar hosts “Late Night GR,” Grand Rapids’ only late-night talk show, from 9-11 pm.
Holiday Bar is located at 801 5th St NW in Grand Rapids.
Coral Gables
Coral Gables features waterfront decks, piano, and pool bars, and has stand-up comedy every Saturday night. It’s especially fun during the summer. Coral Gables is located at 220 Water Street in Saugatuck.
Wherever you are in West Michigan, there’s plenty of live comedy to see and support on a night out.
Other great venues include Mulligan’s Pub, J. Gardella’s Tavern, Riverfront Hotel’s Landing Lounge, and The Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill.
